Parenting Classes

PARENT EDUCATION CLASSES - FALL 2017

Our parent education curriculum includes evening classes, as well as lunch and learn classes. We are available to provide private classes/workshops on a contract basis for your group or organization!  We welcome the opportunity to meet with your school, church, or small group of friends who desire to become better parents.  Please contact us to find out more about these services.  We hope to help your family grow through parental participation in a class.

 

ACTIVE PARENTING For Family Stabilization:  Divorce and Separation Class

This class is for parents who are required to take a court ordered or DHS recommended parenting class.  In addition to teaching basic parenting skills, this one time, two-hour class focuses on how children are affected by divorce and separation.  Topics covered include co-parenting skills, parenting styles, problems solving, anger management, communication and coping skills for both parents and children.   This 2 hour class is hosted once a month. Cost is $10 per class.

This class is for parents who are required to take a court ordered or DHS recommended parenting class. 

This one time, two-hour class teaches basic parenting skills to parents who have been separated from their children and need support before, during, and after family reunification. Topics covered will include: parenting styles, teaching responsibility, cooperation, respect, problem-solving, anger management, coping skills, for parents and children, and effective communication skills. This 2 hour class is hosted once a month. Cost is $10 per class.

THE 9 ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR LOVE AND LOGIC IN THE CLASSROOM ®

Instructor: Wendy Wood   Cost is $60 for this six week course.

Try and make me!” RAISING A STRONG WILLED CHILD

Learn how to set limits, reduce power struggles, and understand your strong willed child in this 4-week class. Parents will learn to recognize what triggers misbehavior and how to foster a relationship that will make their child more compliant.  This class is geared toward children ages 4-18.  Cost is $40

PARENTING THE ADHD CHILD

Designed for parents of children age 4 years + with an ADHD diagnosis. This class helps parents gain a better understanding of ADHD and learn proven strategies to help the behavior and attend of a child diagnosed with ADHD.   Instructor:  Beth McAlpine   This class is offered as either a Lunch & Learn four week course or an evening three week course.  Cost is $40

PARENTING THE LOVE & LOGIC WAY ®

For parents of children ages 5 through eighteen. In this five-week course you will learn the “love and logic” approach to encouraging mutual respect, good decision-making and responsible behavior. This is a six week course.  Instructor: Wendy Wood   Cost is $60.

Streengthening Your Stepfamily 

Theis trhee week class helps families understand the changes and feelings children experience as their family dynamics change. Topics covered include effective communication and coping skills, recreating roles and relationships, establishing sound diiscipline, co-parenting, and sibling relationships.  This is a THREE WEEK LUNCH & LEARN course.  Lunch is not provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own lunch while attending.  Instructor: Beth McAlpine   Cost is $30

LOVE AND LOGIC EARLY CHILDHOOD PARENTING MADE FUN! ®

For parents of children ages 0-5. This course will help parents teach respect, responsibility, and self-discipline to their kids from the beginning.  Topics covered will include whining, arguing, bedtime and morning routines, sibling battles, and power struggles.  Cost:  $50 per family
